Our International Pupil Council plans its work for the new school year

Our young people are global citizens, intensely interested in the wider world. Reps from the Link schools meet to plan their practical response to the big issues facing developing countries like Sierra Leone. Here are notes from the first IPC meeting. Please contact the IPC through Mrs Hinxman at All Saints School with your own ideas.

All Saints hosted the first IPC (International Pupil Council) meeting of the 2018-19 academic year.  We were joined by Guestling Bradshaw and St Leonards C of E Academy.

We began by introducing ourselves and then we watched a short video all about Malala, who introduced the world’s largest lesson.  In this short video the SDG (Sustainable Development Goals) are introduced.  We then had a discussion using the SDG cards about which goals as a council we would like to explore within our schools.  https://sustainabledevelopment.un.org/?menu=1300  Each school will feed these ideas back to their School Councils and we will make a decision at our next meeting.

Next on our agenda was to decide upon which World International days we would like to celebrate this year.

26th September     European Day of Languages

Term 2                 International Day of Peace

Term 3                 Earth Day

Term 4                 World Food Day

Term 5                 World Toilet Day

These dates are not necessarily the official dates, but they are dates that suit us best.

If you have any ideas that you would like to share with us, please contact      Mrs Hinxman via the school office.
