Richard Allen came to our school to tell us about his amazing exploit – rowing solo across the Atlantic from Sierra Leone in West Africa to Guyana in South America. He explained how he was inspired by a man in Freetown, who told him how sure he was that the Commonwealth would come to the aid of the then war-torn Sierra Leone.
