A great wine-tasting evening

Everyone had a really good time at this year’s wine-tasting evening, organised by Lynn and a small team. Ted Bacon was on good form, taking us carefully through 8 different wines, 4 whites and 4 reds, that would go well with Christmas fare. Ted set each wine in its geographical context, and encouraged us to think about its different qualities. Two of the wines were tasted ‘blind’, and the person who best identified the country of origin, type, whether it was ‘oaked’ or not, and eventually the price, was the winner. At half time, we enjoyed a welcome ploughman’s supper. At the end, Ted auctioned a number of outstanding wines which attracted some very generous bids. A raffle rounded off the evening, which raised a wonderful £1275 profit for the Link’s health and education projects.

We’re very grateful to Ted Bacon, and to the headteacher at St Leonards CE Primary Academy for such kind hospitality.
